Additionally you will make a set of four Kitchen Tools (cake tester\, pot scrubber\, root veggie scrubber and a counter whisk). We will speak about some of the history behind the designs\, and the uses of these versatile tools. By the end of the workshop\, you will walk away 7 handmade brooms! \n\n\n\nYour class fee includes all the supplies needed for the course. Please note that this will be a physical activity\, which will use core abdominal muscles\, hands and arms\, and upper body strength. Amy will have some charms and other items you can use to decorate your brooms if you would like\, but if you have something specific\, bring it along and we can see if it can be added into your creation. \n\n\n\nAmy Lou Taylor is the owner of TAoTaT’s Mystic Tea & Brooms and The Museum of Tasseomancy. She is also a Certified Tea Sommelier\, full time Broomsquire (maker of brooms)\, horticulturist\, organic gardener\, community herbalist\, Hedgewitch\, Gardnerian HPS (Retired)\, author and artist. \n\n\n\nShe facilitates many programs about Tea and Brooms\, some of which she has been teaching for over 20 years. Amy has always been an artist who chooses to create with things found in nature\, but when her father passed in 2012\, she lost her muse. In late 2020\, after rediscovering a 20lb box of broom corn in her basement\, Amy rekindled her love and passion for creating with natural material by making brooms again. She crafts her brooms entirely by hand\, and only uses an electric drill for drilling holes in wood. \n\n\n\nwww.taotat.caIG: @taotatFB: @taotat1THREADS: @taotat \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nSpread the word!\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky

SUMMARY:Broom Making at Golden Gatherings
DESCRIPTION:Amy Lou Taylor\, Broomsquire\, is your instructor for the course. She comes from a background where she was taught to make her own tools\, or at the very least engage with tool makers who are experienced in their craft. She’s been making brooms since the late 90s but has been back to making brooms steadily for the last 5+ years. \n\n\n\nWhen we craft our own tools\, we can imbue them with our intention\, our purpose and our needs. A hand broom for example\, is a tool that is used in several different ways\, from cleaning up crumbs\, dust\, shavings etc. to moving energy\, smoke\, air. \n\n\n\nIn this three hour class you will learn how to craft your own simple but powerful kitchen tools (a pot scrubber\, root vegetable scrubber and a cake/baking tester)\, and 18-20” triple style hand broom. These hand brooms are big enough to be used for a hearth broom around a fireplace\, or kept in the kitchen to sweep up small messes\, or whatever you wish to use it for. \n\n\n\nYou will\, while crafting your brooms\, learn some of the history behind the designs\, and the uses of these versatile tools. You also can add charms or crystals to your brooms\, Amy will have some on hand\, but bring along your own\, and we will see if we can make them fit. By the end of the course\, you will walk away with a basic understanding of simple broom making as well as 4\, made by YOU brooms. \n\n\n\nSpace is limited to 8 people. Your investment is $125+HST \n\n\n\nYour class fee includes all the supplies needed for the course. Please note that this will be a physical activity using your upper body\, arms and core muscles and feet\, so dress in comfortable clothing (like leggings\, jeans or yoga pants)\, as well as wear soft soled shoes or be prepared to work barefoot. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpread the word!\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky
